About Thomas Hübl

Thomas Hübl, modern mystic and spiritual teacher

Thomas Hübl is a modern mystic, a spiritual teacher whose work integrates the core insights of the great wisdom traditions with the discoveries of contemporary science, illuminating both with his profound understanding.

Thomas’ teachings offer a unique approach for living as a mystic in the “marketplace” of human activity. His work combines transformational processes that address trauma and shadow issues, somatic awareness practices, advanced meditative practices, and a sophisticated analysis of cultural architecture. His teachings aim to guide practitioners toward a deeper level of self-awareness—from an ego-centered worldview to a life of authentic expression, service, and alignment.

Active since 2004—leading workshops, multi-year training programs, and larger events—Thomas is a sought-after private advisor to social entrepreneurs, business leaders, government officials, and spiritual aspirants. He’s a regular featured speaker at conferences and workshops worldwide.

Teaching Activities

Thomas teaches an intensive two-year study program, called Timeless Wisdom Training, which offers a path of spiritual development on individual, collective, and transpersonal levels. The program is now in its fifth cycle in Germany and in its second cycle in the United States. Hundreds of alumni meet several times a year for an advanced practice and study program, called the Core Group, guided by Thomas.

He regularly offers in-depth online seminars on topics such as A Course in Mystical Principles 1-4, The Mystical Principles of Healing, Transparent Communication, and most recently, Walking Forever: The Path of Conscious Living and Dying. His online courses have been attended by thousands of students from more than 30 countries.

Thomas leads a free, bi-monthly worldwide meditation event called the Download Meditation, during which participants connect in a subtle field to “download” deeper, more profound states of consciousness from a higher channel of energy.

He also regularly leads Toning sessions, vocalizing specific sounds that focus inner coherence and attunement in a group setting, helping participants drop into meditative states and gain a profound experience of space, presence, and connection.

Non-Profit Initiatives

Through his German nonprofit organization Sharing the Presence e.V. founded in 2010, Thomas seeks to facilitate conscious cultural change through raising awareness of the importance of mature participation in society. Its initiatives include the popular Celebrate Life Festival, which brings together more than 1,500 people annually for a ten-day immersive event.

Thomas is also the founder of the nonprofit Pocket Project, which aims to stop the vicious cycle of recurring collective trauma and ultimately reduce its effects in our global culture.

Over the past fifteen years, Thomas has guided large-scale healing events that have brought together thousands of Germans with Israelis to acknowledge, face, and heal the cultural shadow left by the Holocaust.

In August 2009, Thomas Hübl’s book, Sharing the Presence, was published by J. Kamphausen Verlag (the original is in German). In this book, Thomas articulates a holistic approach which considers all life issues as an expression of the ever-present timeless wisdom. In 2014, Thomas released an audio program with Sounds True called, The Power of We: Awakening in the Relational Field, which includes more than seven hours of teachings for integrating spirituality into work, love, and life.

Thomas’ Story

Thomas Hübl was born in Vienna, Austria, in 1971. He studied medicine for several years and was intensely interested in bodywork and related therapies. At the age of 26, he followed a strong inner calling and took the radical step of abandoning his studies to spend four years in retreat in the Czech Republic. During that time, he devoted himself almost exclusively to meditation and experienced a fundamental and revelatory opening.

After returning to Vienna, he held individual teaching sessions that touched many people deeply. Spiritual teacher Paul Lowe recognized Thomas’ potential and supported him. Invitations to give his own workshops soon followed, attracting an ever-increasing number of participants in Germany. In subsequent years, Thomas’ work has become known internationally.

Since 2004, Thomas has maintained an active schedule of speaking, teaching, and training both students and professionals. He lives in Tel Aviv and Berlin with his wife, the Israeli artist Yehudit Sasportas, and their daughter.

Alex Howard interviews Thomas Hübl about how he started his journey of awakening and facilitating groups.

«The deepest listening is presence, is consciousness itself. It is space, an open heart, compassion and a deep receiving of someone.»

Ken Wilbur

Thomas Hubl delves deeply into both timeless wisdom and the specific needs of our time. I have found his work with collective healing to be tremendously innovative and eye-opening. It brought me to my own edges of openness and withdrawal. This type of engagement with what appears to be “other” is what we need, in my opinion, to learn what it truly means to take multiple perspectives and live in an open-hearted way.

Thomas’s teachings have guided me in finding a more authentic and surprisingly creative way to fulfill my calling. I found the inspiration to reconnect my passion for art and storytelling with my commitment to political transformation, and the impact is profound. With Thomas, one learns to live daily life as a creative inspiration.

When Thomas Hübl teaches, a clean, fresh, lighted spacious clarity naturally opens up in and among people—shifting the energy of the room. His presence functions as a kind of permission, and the group field opens in a beautiful, unmistakable way. It activates intuition, shines Light into shadow, and reveals the insubstantial transparency of whatever seemed to be in the way. It also frees up a tremendous amount of joyful energy.
